Skegness and the Coast


The east coast resort of Skegness is only 12 miles from the cottage. It offers an award winning beach and many attractions.

The cottage is near to the Lincolnshire Wolds, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has rolling hills and many picturesque villages and historic market towns.

Also worth a visit is the cathedral city of Lincoln, with Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Castle, museums, art gallery, shops and other attractions.

The cottage  is located in a quite rural setting on the edge of the small village of Great Steeping, three miles east of Spilsby. The property is conveniently situated for exploring the Coast, Fens and Wolds of Lincolnshire.


It is an ideal location for walks, cycling, house riding, bird watching and fishing. There are activities to suite all ages and abilities.

The cottage is on the edge of the small and quiet village of Great Steeping. The village was home to RAF Spilsby during the Second World War parts of which can still be seen nearby.


The nearest town is Spilsby, which is three miles from the village. It was granted its market charted in 1301 and still hosts a bustling market each Monday.

The town’s most famous son was Sir John Franklin, the Arctic exploder who discovered the north West Passage. A fine bronze statue of him now dominates the west market place.


The cottage is near to the Lincolnshire Wolds, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has rolling hills and many picturesque villages and historic market towns.

Bomber Country


Lincolnshire has a impressive aviation heritage, and today is home to the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is located nearby at East Kirkby.

Tennyson Country


Tennyson was born in Somersby in the Lincolnshire Wolds in 1809. He was appointed Poet Laureate in 1850. The beauty of his native Lincolnshire Wolds is reflected in much of his work.

Boston and the Fens


The holiday cottage is near to the Lincolnshire Fens, in the south of Lincolnshire the fens are rich in wildlife and walking. In the fens is the historic Market town and port of Boston.
